The new Okuma Snakehead Junky rods are built with light and responsive 24-ton carbon rod blanks and designed specifically for chasing Snakehead. These rods feature Okuma’s UFR rod tip technology making them stronger and lighter than standard carbon rods. This process blends unidirectional fiber over 24-ton carbon in the extended tip section of the rod to increase lifting strength and power by as much as 400%. This technology provides for the ultimate in strength without sacrificing sensitivity so that you can feel even the lightest of bites down deep.
“Snakehead fisherman are a breed by themselves,” states John Bretza, Product Development Manager. “The areas you are fishing for Snakehead usually aren’t the most pleasant, and these rods are built to withstand some of that harsh environment.”
With five total models within the Snakehead Junky lineup, you are bound to find your needs. Two of the five rods are spinning models that come in at 6-foot, 6-inches and 7-feet in length. The three casting models are 7-foot and 7-foot, 3-inches. They are available in Medium Heavy action in spinning and Medium Heavy and Heavy actions in Casting.
The components on the Snakehead Junky rods are built for durability in the harsh environments that snakehead are found. They feature Sea Guide XO/XQ 316-stainless steel angled guide frames to reduce line twist. These guides hold Zirconium inserts that offer compatibility for both braid and monofilament lines. The rods also feature a tapered cork fore and rear grip with a rubber cork butt cap. A precision placed stainless steel hook keeper comes standard on all models.
Snakehead Junky Rods are available at a retail price of $99.99 and are backed by a 1-year limited warranty. For more information, please visit www.okumafishingusa.com
